Wattle will undergo a major upgrade to Moodle 4.0 between Monday 5 December and Tuesday 6 December, 2022. Wattle will be unavailable to all staff and students during this time, and all existing courses and content will be upgraded and available in the new version once the upgrade is complete. This version has a new look and feel, navigation, and a range of new features.

Wattle 4.0 has larger icons for each activity and resource, which are colour coded by their type, with blue for content (such as books or pages), green for communication (such as feedback or chat), orange for collaboration (such as forum or glossary ), and pink for assessment (such as quiz or assignment).

New features
Here’s a quick summary of some of the changes you’ll find in Wattle 4.0:
- Students can be automatically notified of changes to the content in the Wattle site without having to post in the forum to tell them.
- Items can more easily be moved around the site with improvements to drag and drop.
- Tracking how students are progressing in the course has improved with a new design for activity completion tracking.
- Several improvements have been made to the Wattle assignment, such as ability to set time limits and word limits for questions, and hide the instructions for the assignment until it is open.
- The quiz has several new features, including version control of quiz questions and the ability to set questions as “draft” and comment on them.
