Changes are coming to how the Phase 2 Portfolio for the MChD is done in 2023.

From January, 2023, the Phase 2 portfolio is going fully paperless, using a new platform called risr/advance. The Phase 2 portfolio content has been updated to focus on feedback to support student learning.  Students commencing Year 3 in 2023 will use risr/advance to submit all their portfolio items, rather than submitting in Wattle as in previous years.

What is risr/advance?

risr/advance is a new platform designed for workplace-based learning and feedback in clinical environments. All portfolio activities, such as clinical skills logbook items, supervisor reports, CBLs, and long cases have all been built in risr/advance in consultation with the relevant block chairs and discipline leads.

All forms are submitted virtually from anywhere with no need for paper, and assessors can quickly fill in and sign off on digital forms without the need for a log in.

Dashboard showing student progress

Each student will have a customised dashboard showing their progress towards their portfolio completion, with a “To do list” for items that need to be finalised.

Easy to track what needs to be completed

Individual portfolio items are organised into “goal sets” in risr/advance, to help students keep track of what items are completed and which still need to be done.

risr/advance will help academic supervisors and assessment staff identify students in need of support with automated reports on student progress throughout the year.

risr/advance available for Year 3 in January 2023

Year 3 students will get access to risr/advance for their 2023 academic year, with Year 4 being rolled out in 2024. User guides will be available very soon to help staff and students get familiar with the system. Training and support will be provided to Year 3 students and clinical, academic, and professional staff at all of our clinical placement locations over the next few months.
