New examination platform coming soon – Inspera Assessment

Inspera Assessment is a new examination platform that is being used for all MChD exams in 2023. This platform includes in-exam live support, improved accessibility features, and an easy to use interface for students during exams. Most importantly, students can continue their exam without interruption if they lose internet connection.

For staff, it will include an integrated marking system within the platform, more question types and design options, and a comprehensive exam question bank.

When will it be used?

All examinations for the MChD program (including MEDI8011/8012, MEDI8020, MEDI8030, and MEDI8040) will be conducted in Inspera Assessment in 2023. The first group to use it will be Year 1 students (MEDI8011/8012) in their formative minicase exam, scheduled for Monday, 3 April 2023.

How does it work?

Students will complete their exams using Inspera Exam Portal, which provides remote invigilation of exams. This is a piece of software downloaded to your personal computer. It will temporarily record your screen, web traffic, camera, and microphone during your exam and also capture a photo of your student ID card for identity verification. The platform has been thoroughly reviewed by the university cybersecurity, privacy, and legal teams to comply with all the ANU requirements.

You can see a public preview of how Inspera exams work using this demo test from the University of Queensland. (Just note that this is not remotely invigilated and only shows the user interface.)

What's next?

Training, support, drop-in sessions, user guides, and a practice test will be provided to help all students get Inspera Exam Portal set up and working smoothly on their computers before their first exam. Stay tuned for updates next week!
