
In this week’s post, we focus on preparing the information pages in your new Canvas course sites, including:
- Class Summary
- Course Contacts
- Course Venues & Course Requirements
Here’s a quick guide to updating these pages, with practical steps and helpful links.
📌 Always read the template instructions on your course dashboard before editing.

Class Summary
This page links to the official Programs and Courses Class Summary, which must be published in accordance with university policy.
✔ What to do:
- Navigate to Modules > Course Information > Class Summary
- Work with Education Support team to ensure the Class Summary is finalised.
- You do not need to paste the full summary—just make sure the link to the Programs and Courses is active and visible.

Course Contacts
✔ What to do:
- Navigate to Modules > Communication and Support > Course Contacts > Edit
- Follow the template to enter information for:
- Course Convenor, Lecturers, and Tutors:
Include their name, email address (@anu.edu.au preferred), office or consultation hours, a short biography, and a link to their research profile. - You may also add Demonstrators and Class Representatives in the provided table.
- Remove any sections that do not apply.
- Course Convenor, Lecturers, and Tutors:

✅ Tips:
- Use the Page History function to view or restore earlier versions if needed.
Course Venues & Course Requirements
✔ What to do:
- Navigate to Modules > Course Information > Course Venues/Course Requirements > Edit
- Course Venues – List the locations of:
- Lectures
- Tutorials
- Labs
- Online sessions (include recurring Zoom/Teams links)
- Course Requirements – Replace all placeholder text with your specific course requirements.
- Remove any sections that do not apply.
- Click “Save” after updating.
- Can’t finalise venues or requirements yet? Click the “Unpublish” button and return later. Just don’t leave the default placeholder text!
